Hi, my name is Priscilla. I am a 34-year-old Creative Producer / Project Manager in Art based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Adjuma Tribe is the space where I share my urban, slow living journey.
My slow living journey is from a conscious perspective regarding lifestyle – wellness – food – fashion. With love for people and our planet. With this blog, I hope to inspire you. Without judgment and with a whole lot of passion, compassion and some style. I’m a firm believer that we can all learn from each other. So let’s do exactly that. And I’m also not there yet.
My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor, and some style

Where does the name orginate from?
Adjuma, adjoema, aji umba, or ojemma
I know it as Adjuma. The Adjuma is a very hot pepper from a region in South America, coincidentally this is also where my parents where born. To be specific from Surinam, which is next to Brasil.
In some aspects, my life is as spicy as the Adjuma. There is also this Dutch saying “peper in de kont hebben’ which kinda means that you are always on the go, always working, always busy, let’s say I’m an “Adjuma peper”. But no longer, I want to devote more to a slow lifestyle, and I want to take you on my journey. That’s it for now.
Why did i start Adjuma Tribe?
There’s not just one explanation why I started Adjuma, I’ve got a few. The short answer is th at I’ve been on this slow living journey, and I’d love to share with you my experience and all my insights.
I’ve always loved fashion, food (not just eating, but also cooking;)), creating and supporting people (artists) on their journey in many ways. With Adjuma I can combine all these things.
As a daughter of immigrant parents, I was brought up to work hard (twice as hard as anyone else was the story). Work hard and party harder became my life motto
I rushed through my bachelors with a lot of side jobs and activities, started my first compan y in my last year of my bachelor’s degree, worked my a*s* off
for a couple of years, began my masters working a lot as a freelancer, and after finishing my master’s degree, I continued to work a lot.
Because I worked so hard, I felt I had to treat myself a lot. But instead, I decided to indulge myself with quick fashion and other items I didn’t even nee d. I know that working hard has helped me reach a lot of goals, but I think I could have balanced it out more which would make me happier.
Since I was young I’ve always had a conscious mind (libra here ;)). But I did not always know what was best me, for other people and our planet. I loved vintage shopping to get unique pieces and I’ve tried different diets because of my allergies. Though on the other hand, I don’t think I’ve been invested enough.
I had a minor breakdown a few years ago. I’ve felt overworked. I noticed this in everything I did. Simple issues were just too much. And when coping with that, I was working on a project with a few hours and a lot of duties. I made a big lifestyle change in that period. And gradually moved into a life like a slow living before I even knew the word. It cost me a lot of time to get to this point of my journey and learn:
- about things to concentrate more on the quality of life instead of the quantity,
- to find products that are sustainable or consciously made,
- to find ways of producing less waste, which also saves a lot of money,
- and to adjust my diet which benefits my wellbeing.
And even then, I am still not there yet.
What can you expect?
I will start sharing insights with you in my next blog posts, and with every blog, my perspect ive of slow living will get clear to you. I want to share:
- spots to find sustainable, or vintage fashion
- places where to find zero-waste, sustainable, organic or hand made products goods (lifestyle and beauty)
- Quick tips to achieve a slow living lifestyle (from my urban life and sometimes quite spicy job)
- simple vegan recipes
- DIY beauty products and I even have some tips for cleaning products
I hope that this will help you define your perspective of slow living and you will find little things to implement in your life. I would love to hear your thoughts on slow living and I’m also looking forward to learning about slow living from you.

In the meantime, I am exploring the options for starting an online shop where I can share all my favorite goodies with you.
